From the first conversation with Maryann, to dropping the van back at the end of the trip, the experience was excellent. Friendly, prompt, accurate communication, a thorough introduction and "walk-through" of the immaculately presented and superbly equipped van before setting off.

The only problem with renting a Pacific Horizon 2+1 for our first ever campervan trip is that we risk being disappointed next time!   Everyone we exchanged with at Pacific Horizon seemed to genuinely care about providing the best service possible - from managing director Maryann (who so generously resolved our last-minute booking panic), to Jendy at reservations, Debs on the hotline when gravel cracked our windshield, and Eddie at the Auckland office.

The 2+1 itself is compact and easy to manoeuvre (even when you're used to driving on the other side of the road!) with a smartly designed interior.  Having a fully functioning kitchen, shower and toilet is essential for responsible freedom camping, particularly in the wonderful DOC campsites.

We miss our little mobile home, and are already planning our next trip to New Zealand.  Thanks again to all the team at Pacific Horizon!

When we arrived we got a fantastic response when moved in to our motorhome, a 6-berth SAM Mercedes with WiFi, toilet & shower.  Unfortunately, we do not remember the name of Pacific Horizon's staff in Auckland at the pick-up point.  There was a nice girl and her brother who came to our hotel free of charge and picked us up - two adults and three children, and all our packing.  Fantastic!

Our motorhome worked perfectly throughout our trip.  We especially appreciated the space in the car, the flexibility of pick-up and drop-off, and the incredibly nice scenery of Northland.  At one point we needed help as our stove didn't want to start.  We received prompt help from Pacific Horizon's Wellington office, by the director Maryann Liddell.  When we returned the vehicle we received a free transfer to our hotel :-)

We highly recommend Pacific Horizon to others who wish for a perfect deal, a safe rental and an incredibly nice motorhome.  Extra big thanks to you who helped us with the pick-up and drop-in.

We spent December & January in New Zealand.  This included three weeks in a motorhome in the North Island, picking up in Auckland and dropping off in Wellington - a facility not available from all other motorhome suppliers.  Then, after some time with friends, we had another three weeks in the South Island doing a round trip from Christchurch.

Our travel agent in UK recommended Pacific Horizon and it turned out to be a very good choice.  The motorhomes were well-equipped, and handled the steep and windy roads effortlessly.

However, what really made the whole experience of Pacific Horizon special was the personal quality of the customer service: everyone from Pacific Horizon made us feel they were keen to do everything possible to make our trip a good experience.  For example, we'd been booked into an Auckland hotel out of range of the usual Pacific Horizon pick-up; the driver nonetheless brought the motorhome to us.  And at the end of our journey I realised, at the Airport hotel in Christchurch, that I'd left my mobile phone in the motorhome.  After a series of calls, with Maryann in Wellington, Michelle found the phone - though not where I told her I'd left it!  In the circumstances I felt it was my responsibility to get a taxi to collect it, but Michelle insisted on bringing it to the hotel.  Small examples but absolutely typical of the overall level of attention and care we received.  Any small problems were sorted out by phone, and in one not very significant case - the TV not working - we were given free WiFi in compensation (incidentally I was amazed how well the inboard WiFi worked, but I'm easily impressed by technology!).

We'd recommend Pacific Horizon to any travellers and would certainly use them again if we returned.

We booked our 20-day long campervan trip around New Zealand's North Island with Pacific Horizon following a review of the ratings on rankers.co.nz and believe that we made the right choice, especially having spoken to other campers that used other and much larger Motorhome rental companies.

We hired the 2+1 campervan, which at 5.9m long is just over 1m shorter than other vans that are based on the Mercedes Sprinter.  However, it was ideal for our needs and was extremely well equipped.  The layout with the kitchen and toilet/shower arranged at the back of the van and living/sleeping set up in the middle worked well and we quickly got used to the daily/nightly routine of switching between open space/dining table and comfortable double bed.  Although having nearly 100,000kms on the clock, the van was in great condition and was very easy to drive and manoeuvre.

We also found Pacific Horizon great to deal with throughout the booking process, and we really appreciated the fact that we were picked up from our Airport Hotel at the beginning of our trip and dropped off again at the end, which is a service that is not provided by all motorhome providers.  Eddie, the guy in charge at the Auckland depot, could not have been more helpful and friendly and took his time to give us a full explanation of how to operate the van, as well as great tips to make our life easier on the road.

Overall, we would definitely recommend Pacific Horizon and would have no hesitation in using the company again when we return to tour the South Island in a couple of years time.

If there was anything greater than 10 out of 10, I'll choose it.  Pacific Horizon has made our first time adventure in New Zealand's South Island extra special.  As our home for 2 weeks, the GEM motorhome we rented has performed spectacularly on every occassion - excellent brakes, all accessories functioned very well throughout our stay (although we didn't avail of the in-house wifi), the heater was amazing and ready to warm us up after a freezing hike.

The service was wonderful too - Michelle in the Christchurch depot was especially helpful in helping us get up to speed.  Her instructions were clear, and helped me with my confidence in driving the GEM - it was pretty daunting at first.

Overall, we had zero technical issues and hiccups.  Very reliable motorhome.  I will definitely choose Pacific Horizon again in my next trip to New Zealand, North Island next time.  Highly recommended.

My partner and I hired a 2+1 berth camper van and it was amazing! We travelled 930km around the North Island in 9 days, and had no problems at all with the van.
Pacific Horizon had outstanding communication throughout the whole process and I would highly recommend them! Thank you again, I can't wait to come back and do the South Island!

Hiring our campervan from Pacific Horizon in Christchurch was a great experience from start to finish. The booking process was easy & efficient - I liked that the extra costs, like the road user charge, was included in the quoted price and that there were no hidden costs.  We thought we got good value for money.

Michelle picked us up bang on time from our motel, and did a great job of explaining the workings of the van.  The instruction book in the campervan was very useful and well thought out.  When we had a query our phone calls were promptly answered and friendly, helpful advice was given.  The drop-off process was also easy and Michelle drove us to the Airport.  Fabulous!

We has a 2+1 Mercedes Sprinter (5.9m) which suited all our needs.  There were two of us, and we slept in the two single beds, which we kept made up as singles all the time (accessing the vehicle from the front or the rear).  This meant we had lots of sitting/lying space set up and didn't have to make beds at night time.  The kitchen was well kitted out, I particularly liked that the cookware was good stainless steel.  The bathroom was compact but worked - it was very handy having our own toilet wherever we went.

My husband, daughter, three grandchildren and myself had a wonderful holiday in New Zealand travelling around in a Pacific Horizon Standard SAM.  There was plenty of room for us all, with a large bed at the back which converted to a table where there was heaps of room for us all to eat.  My three granddaughters shared the bed above the cabin which they loved, it was like their own little fortress.  My daughter slept on the bed which was converted from the front and passenger seat. 

The motorhome was extremely well equipped with everything we needed including bedding, all utensils, crockery and cutlery.  We were picked up from our hotel and dropped back to the airport, which was a huge advantage and the staff were very helpful and friendly. 

We were extremely impressed with the caravan parks we stayed in, as all of them had everything needed for travellers and the amenities were clean. All had microwaves, fridges and lots of communal spaces.  We also stayed at two free camping spots and we loved them.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Pacific Horizon to anyone wanting a traveling holiday.   Thank you/Kia ora.

Based on our plan to travel both islands for 5 weeks, we were looking for a large campervan that was not older than two years to ensure convenient travel. Therefore, we finally decided to go with Pacific Horizon even though is was a little more expensive - and it was the right decision.

We were picked up at the hotel with "our" campervan and the 30min drive was a really good first introduction to the van. Being at the office we received another detailed introdution to the car, which gave us a good feeling when taking off.

The campervan was well equipped. With 1.5 years and 60,000km the van for sure showed some signs of usage, but nothing that was disturbing. During our travel, we unfortunately had to contact the office twice due to damage to the car (broken stair, grey water tube broken). After sending an email, Maryann got back to us both times within 15 min and both times our problem was solved quick and uncomplicated. Returning the car was also easy and a pleasant ending to a  great trip.

We are Americans living in Taiwan and this was our first visit to NZ and our first time in an RV.  We loved our experience with Pacific Horizon Motorhomes.  The vehicle was in great condition and drove perfectly.  It was well appointed and I cannot think of a single thing we didn't have provided.  As first time users, we were nervous about all the things involved in using an RV, but the instructions were clear and we had no issues.  The company provided us information in advance of our trip that was essential in planning and ensured we had a great time.

They picked us up at the airport before we rented and took us to our hotel afterwards, and the two fellas that drove us (John and Colin) were charming, informative and on time.  Maryann in the office was great in explaining the rig to us and answered all of our questions in an effective and friendly way.  I cannot think of a single criticism and wholeheartedly recommend them.

I booked late and all the cheap campers were booked - thank the lord!  My camper was almost new, was fully equipped and was a very easy drive for someone more used to a turbo sports car.  I loved the experience of driving to new places, getting a powered site and chilling by a beach or lake.  My camper had all the equipment I needed (even cooking & cleaning stuff - they even provided me a pack of milk!).  I slept so well and even read a book (not read one in years!), the pick up and drop off were easy, and I even got a lift back to the Airport.

Thoroughly recommended - my kiwi friends are moving to the South Island and I'll do the same there again with Pacific Horizon!

We made a round trip from Auckland to Rotorua, Taupo, the Tasman Coast, then to Napier and back over Taupo to Auckland.  This was our 4th time we rented a campervan by different renting companies, but Pacific Horizion was the best!

Friendly staff, a brand new and clean campervan (only 8000 kms on the display), great support as we had to reset the water heater .... everything was just perfect!  We are coming back for sure!

We had a fantastic time in New Zealand and rented a Premium Eclipse 4-berth with Pacific Horizon.  It was almost brand new and exceptionally clean throughout and well equipped with everything you could want to cook with and sleep with.
Maryann at Pacific Horizon is extremely attentive and very responsive, I'd email her and she would get back to me very promptly. And if you are considering doing the motorhome holiday NZ is so well equipped for this kind of adventure.
What I liked was that they were local and were a small 'boutique' business so you feel as though you are really helping the local economy.  We would certainly recommend PH to family and friends - actually I already have just last night.

Picked up our Pacific Horizon 2 berth van in Wellington. Van was new and staff were very helpful. The van was self contained with a microwave, electric kettle, TV with satellite etc. I can't fault anything about the service or the van.

We used a different company on the South Island and were very disappointed when we compared back to Pacific Horizon. John picked us up and returned us to our hotel in Wellington and we weren't charged! John was very interesting company. Maryann was lovely and we preferred being given a personal tour and overview of the van and how to operate it rather than in the other company where it was "Here sit down and watch the videos" - boring!

We used rankers.co.nz to find a motorhome to rent for our 8-day trip to NZ. Pacific Horizon were the only company to respond with a message addressing our requirements. Maryann recommended a GEM 4 berth motorhome because the king sized bed can be left made up and with a toilet and shower, we could easily free-camp. Communicating with Maryann was easy; she's quick to respond to our questions, happy to accommodate our date changes and made recommendations which were super handy being first time motorhome renters.

We loved that the motorhome was delivered to our accommodation and Eddie gave us a very thorough run through of how everything works (hot water, refilling fresh water, dumping grey water, emptying toilet cassette, etc...). He clarified appliances that would/wouldn't work while we were free-camping and gave us tonnes of really helpful tips for travelling around NZ.

On our first night, a pretty heavy storm hit and rain found its way in through the skylight. My feeling is this would've been incredibly difficult to detect in a pre-hire check. We called Maryann in the morning and she arranged for it to be repaired as soon as we stopped that night. We've heard of some motorhome companies not wanting to repair leaks and other minor faults during the hire period but Maryann didn't hesitate and the guy who repaired it stayed back until we got there and couldn't have been nicer. What could've been a problem for the subsequent 7 days of rain turned into a really pleasant experience thanks to Maryann and her network of repairers.

The van was clean, everything was in good working order and there's plenty of cutlery and crockery. We'd happily rent a motorhome from Maryann next time we visit NZ.

Hope you are well, I just had to say a big thanks for all your help in making our trip to New Zealand so fantastic. From day one when I first contacted your company Pacific Horizon fourteen months prior to the trip you were so helpful and professional, you gave in depth info on hotels for when we first arrived late at night before collecting the caravanette, and answered our many questions. The briefing on how it all worked was thorough and we set off around your beautiful Island on our trip of a lifetime.

The van being so self sufficient allowed us to park up on lakesides, mountains and by the sea we didn't have to find campsites. We were recommended to you by friends at our rugby club who had used your camper vans back in 2005 on the last Lions trip and now that we are back I have thanked them for such a great recommendation.

When we handed back the vehicle it was lovely to meet you face to face after conversing by email and phone for so long and thank you in person for making our holiday so stress-free.  Anyway I will certainly recommend your company to any one I know heading to New Zealand and hopefully return one day to use your company again.  Hope to meet up again sometime in the future.

We just came home after spending two weeks in a Pacific Horizon 6-Berth motorhome. The layout of the car was perfect, and although it was old (we knew about it ahead of time and it will be de-commissioned soon) it was fantastic! 
The service we got from Maryann at the office and Barry in Christchurch is nothing short of exceptional. I would surely book with them again!!!

Our two months travel though New Zealand has been a real blast. The country has so much to offer in beauty and variety that every day was an amazing experience, and we are now enjoying great photos and memories. The camper van was perfect for us, easy to drive, small enough to drive and park into towns, and powerful enough to take us everywhere through all the bends and ups and downs, and gave us so much freedom.

New Zealanders were so welcoming and helpful, and it was a real pleasure to meet you and your parents in Wellington.  Eddie, in Auckland, took very good care of us and we enjoyed very much our talks with him about his maori ancestry.

I can see why most of our friends have visited your country four or five times, and we'll be back. Thank you so much for everything and best of luck with your business.
